Homegrown FreQs 2011 Winner – Stylus

Dj Stylus (aka Ali Ormond)

First began Dj’ing back in 2007 frequenting a few clubs around Adelaide at the time, Stylus went on hiatus for a few years in-between, but got back into the swing of things late last year. Stylus plays a mixed bag of dnb, keeping things interesting with a mix of the old classics and the freshest and latest tunes, with all types of Drum n’ Bass sub genres.

Her first Dj’ing influence actually came from Paul Van Dyke before discovering the world of Drum and Bass, once exposed to the awesomeness it had to offer, she was taken away by internationals such as Andy C, Klute, D-Bridge and John B, as well as the amazing Adelaide talent by the likes of Patch, Fiction, Filter, and notably giving props to Rebel & TROUb9L, two female Dj’s who both past and current have inspired her. In a male dominate DJ world, it has been awesome to be able to represent the female DnB Dj and hopefully inspire more girls to get up behind the decks.

She was a recent finalist in an Adelaide DnB Competition, Underground Sound, and most recently taking out the title for the HomeGrown FreQs National Mix Competition.
You can log onto to catch her in a Rotating guest spot on Neat Freqs, Sundays 4 to 6pm; and in Adelaide at Rumour Fridays @ HQ.
