Homegrown Freqs 2012

Homegrown FreQs 2012 – The National DnB Mixing competition

Twisted Audio’s ‘Homegrown FreQs’ is back again for another year to uncover Australia’s freshest untapped talents. Once more we’ve teamed up with some of the biggest crews from around the country to bring you the opportunity to showcase your skills and for one DJ to be crowned Australia’s Homegrown FreQ for 2012!

We’ve worked hard and organized 6 LIVE regional heats in all major capitals around Australia, with the finalist to be flown to Melbourne to play a set at the NYD ‘Tribe Festival’ alongside some of DnB’s biggest names! And when we say biggest we mean the BIGGEST!

Supporters will also get a chance to be part of this competition thanks to our online voting system in which you will be able to vote for your favourite from the top 6 DJ’s and help them become the ‘Homegrown FreQ’ of 2012!!

So if you think you’ve got what it takes to play with the big dogs, make sure you submit your entries before the close date in your state and may the biggest FreQ win!

1st Round – Regional Entries

All DJs interested in competing will need to record a 20-30 minute mix using either Turntables or CDJs and a mixer, use of DJ softwares (Serato-Scratch Live, Traktor, etc) in conjunction with CDJ’s or Turntables only is fine but will be monitored at the time of the competition to ensure the competitors are not cheating by using any other softwares, Sync features or a pre-recorded mix.

Using DAW softwares such as Ableton, Fruity Loops, Logic is not permitted.

DJs will than upload their mixes online and submit them via the submission form at the bottom of this page to the local competition managers in their state.

The regional competition manager will listen to the mixes and pick the best 6 and will than book those DJs to the regional final to be held in September & October 2012.

Can i Enter more than 1 mix to the competition?

Yes you can, we do however encourage DJs to enter only 1 mix which represents their skill to the fullest, this comp is about quality and not quantity ;-)

How will i know if I advanced to the regional heats?

The regional competition manager will contact all DJs who qualified to the regional heats a week before the regional finals.

Can DJ duos enter the competition?

No, at the moment we do not have sufficient DJ duos interested in entering the competition, when we feel that this has changed we will look at a separate Duo category to ensure everyone gets a fair chance to compete

If I win the regional heat, am I able to record a new mix to represent me in the national finals?

No, the originally submitted mixes will be used for the national finals, this is due to time limitation.
