They say nice guys finish last but that certainly isn’t the case for one of Western Canada’s most talked about DJ/Producers; Neon Steve. This peer-declared nice guy has jumped ahead of the game and is quickly showing why he’s held down top spots on Beatport, Juno, Hype Machine and Soundcloud hot charts, taken top spots in DJ Challenges in addition to being voted locally as the best Electronic producer in 2012.
Comfortable rinsing out everything from Future Bass to Drum and Bass, Neon Steve has developed a reputation for playing high energy sets that blend and twist conventional genres. His production ranges in tempos but he’s most at home working on bass music full of low end frequencies.
Neon Steve’s production and remix work is widely talked about and has seen him working alongside some of the biggest and best known bass artists in EDM. Remix credits include Datsik & Bare, The Beekeepers, Rico Tubbs, Mooqeee, Herbgringer and Excision & Downlink (x2), the latter of which sat at the top of Beatport’s Top 10 Dubstep chart for well over a month and was licensed to a Ministry of Sound Compilation. In addition, Neon Steve’s remix of Breach’s ‘Jack’ caught the attention of Mad Decent label figure Diplo and was featured on his BBC 1Xtra show.
Besides remixes, Neon Steve’s original releases have been charting themselves. Many of his releases on Bombstrikes, including two vinyl releases, topped Juno charts as best sellers and his original track, Got This Feeling taken from his Feeling EP, was featured in MixMag as Tune of the Month.
While 2012 saw Neon Steve touring Europe, UK and Canada, 2013 took him down under as he got a chance to rinse out in the outback’s of Australia and New Zealand. 2014 will see him continue globetrotting as he looks to touch down in Europe, and USA in addition to a reappearance in Australia. Already well known for his festival sets, including many major Canadian festivals appearances at places like Shambhala (Fractal Forest), Neon Steve continues to show why he’s one of Canada’s most talked about DJ/Producers.
Never slowing down and always forward thinking, Neon Steve is not an artist you’ve heard the last of. With 2014 looking to propel him ahead, he is well on his way injecting a bit of brightness amongst some of bass music’s brightest stars.
Fourward (Shogun Audio, UK) & Dose (Mind the Future LP Tour)Posted: Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014
Twisted Audio is proud to present one of finest upcoming producers on the international DnB scene on their first visit to Melbourne::
Fourward (Shogun Audio, UK)
Dose (Mind the Future LP tour)
A Foreign Objekt
Friday 12th of December @ Brown alley (585 Lonsdale st. Melbourne CBD)
Prepare yourselves for a high performance, sonic onslaught as we introduce the most breathtaking drum & bass outfit to have emerged from Austria in recent years, Fourward.
Influenced heavily by the likes of Bad Company, Noisia and Ed Rush & Optical, the collective formed back in 2007, bringing together a myriad of styles into one slick package to take the scene by storm with huge releases on a host of prestigious labels including Virus, Vision, Audioporn and most recently SGN:LTD.
Their breakthrough release came in 2009 on DJ Trace’s legendary DSCI4 label while their collaboration with Body & Soul on Ed Rush & Optical’s Virus Recordings took their profile to the next level with support from all corners of the globe. Since then Ludwig, Lukas, Dominik and Nik have travelled the globe as their renowned DJ sets continue to set dance floors alight with their own trademark take on drum & bass.
With the recent success of their hit remix of the Upbeat’s ‘Alone’ on Noisia’s Vision Recordings and 2013’s ‘Aftermath’ EP on AudioPorn Records perking up the ears of a certain Friction on BBC Radio 1, it wasn’t long after that the call was made; the year culminated in their signing exclusively with Shogun Audio. Kicking off this new chapter with the jaw dropping ‘Black Tooth Grin’ single on Shogun’s sister imprint SGN:LTD in October, plus their forthcoming outing ‘On A Knife Edge’ included on the Way Of The Warrior 2 label compilation, Fourward have marked their card ready to kick down even more doors in 2014 and beyond.
Since his first release in 2006 Dose has forged and cemented a solid reputation as one of the top solo drum and bass artists to come out of New Zealand. Having consistently released his works on a vast spectrum of top Labels such Ram and Renegade and with his dj sets containing a well tasted & delivered selection of original and International content, Dose has built a well respected reputation as both a Headline DJ and as producer.
2014 will be the year Dose’s debut LP titled “Mind the Future” sees the light of release on Klute’s Commercial Suicide. With the sampler being released in March and full release set for mid-year this LP will give fans and champions of Dose’s music a broad and varied platter of his sound from driving and energetic to more deep and intimate style.
Dose is a unique talent who holds true to being great example of an underground artist who stands by his sound and his Technique and is embarking on a tour promote his LP across Europe, Uk, New Zealand and Australia from April – July this year.
