Twisted Audio presents

(Neosignal , GER)

Saturday October 10th @ Railway Hotel Brunswick

Support: Okuli / Monkee / Lickweed / Calibrate / Zero1

Phace makes his debut appearance with Twisted Audio this October to celebrate the release of his new LP ‘Shape The Random’, out now on Neosignal Recordings.

We are very excited and honoured to have one of the most influential and groundbreaking drum & bass artists join us at Twisted for this very exclusive and intimate event.

PHACE is the alias used by Florian Harres, an electronic music producer, DJ and label owner from Hamburg, Germany. Over the past decade he not only defined his very own style of cutting-edge electronic music but also toured most corners of this planet, building a large, faithful global following.

His wide-ranging back catalogue of music includes three full length albums (Psycho, From Deep Space and Raum Und Zeit), various EP’s (e.g. Now & Tomorrow, Energie, Motor, Vitreous, and more) plus countless singles and collaborations (e.g. Brainwave, Cold Champagne, Program, Desert Orgy, and more).

Phace’s music is released on the world’s biggest indie labels such as Vision, OWSLA, Mau5trap, Shogun Audio, Virus, Critical, and of course NEOSIGNAL RECORDINGS, his own imprint.

His sound is best described by twisted bass, rhythmical experimentation, high contrast ambience, deep cinematic themes, explosive energy, and yet human analog soul and funk. This unique approach is constantly piquing demand for appearances at clubs, festivals and media around the globe.

Twisted Audio residents support Wilkinson & Brookes Brothers

Posted: Thursday, August 27th, 2015

Inhibit presents…

// WILKINSON (UK, RAM Records)

// BROOKES BROTHERS (UK, Viper Recordings)

[56 Fitzroy Street, St.Kilda]

Plus EKKO & SIDETRACK (Perth, Viper Recordings)
Fendi / Cam Brodie / A Foreign Objekt

A new-school star for drum ‘n’ bass straight out of South London, Mark Wilkinson’s distinctive productions and remixes have the international scene – fans and critics alike – utterly hooked. Lush, melodic and emotional, Wilkinson’s tunes have huge cross-over appeal: he dips into the realm of pop rock while still going in with hard ‘n’ fast beats and sizzling drops. Collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Katy B have further secured his pop crossover appeal, while his work with Nero, Chase & Status, and Naughty Boy have cemented his legitimacy in the d’n’b scene.

As a teenager Wilkinson carved out his way with releases on Hospital Records, before being handpicked by Andy C to join Andy’s RAM Records (Virgin / EMI) label. He’s already made the label very proud with several club anthems, including the hugely popular Afterglow, which charted in the Top 5 on the UK Charts, sold 400,000 copies and snagged 35 million Youtube views.

His subsequent debut, Lazers Not Included, went to #1 on the iTunes Dance chart in no less than ten (!) countries, leading to a huge demand for Wilkinson gigs around the world – he’s played massive festivals Glastonbury, Wireless, Reading, Leeds, and EDC Vegas, and has a sold-out debut UK live tour under his belt. UK radio elite Annie Mac and Zane Lowe have been singing his praises and premiering his tracks since day dot and he recently scooped the pool at the UK National Drum & Bass Awards, taking home gongs for ‘Best Single’, ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Video’, ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best Live Act’, and

He recently debuted a new live show at Electric Brixton (watch an official video from it here: and as you can see, its an epic and electric undertaking that more than delivers on Wilkinson’s resume hype.

Wilkinson is the scene’s golden boy right now for very good reason – see why when he bounces through Australia and New Zealand. Wilkinson lets us in on what to expect of the shows: “After my album and Afterglow dropped, the shows have been really packed and there’s a great atmosphere out there. I’ll be representing my album, but also playing my favourite tunes from the wider drum ‘n’ bass genre. I’m getting my party set going. I’ll also be trying out some new music that isn’t out there yet, and road-testing that.”

One of the most respected production partnerships in Drum and Bass, the Brookes Brothers have become a formidable force across the bass music scene. Known for their unique, soul and disco infused beats, the Brookes Brothers are one of the genres most accomplished production teams.

Fresh from the BBC Radio 1 playlisted hit ‘Loveline’ released to wide acclaim on Breakbeat Kaos in late 2012, the legendary production team signed exclusively to the label they started out with, Viper Recordings.

In August 2013 the Brothers released ‘Carry Me On’ (featuring Chrom3 on vocals) to high acclaim, being selected as Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World”, as well as making the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra playlist and hitting #7 on the official UK Independent Charts. With a new album in the works for 2014, the most exciting chapter so far for the Brookes Brothers is about to emerge.

Homegrown FreQs 2015 – The national DnB Mixing competition

Posted: Saturday, August 8th, 2015

Twisted Audio’s ‘Homegrown FreQs’ is back again for another year to uncover Australia’s freshest up and coming Drum n Bass DJs. Once again we have teamed up with some of the most respected crews from around the country to bring you the opportunity to showcase your skills and for one DJ to be crowned Australia’s Homegrown FreQ for 2015!

This year we have 5 live regional heats in major capitals around Australia.

So if you think you have got what it takes to play with the top dogs, make sure you submit your mix before entries close in your state and may the biggest FreQ win!

1st Round – Regional Entries & Rules

All DJs interested in competing will need to record a 20-30 minute mix using either Turntables or CDJs and a mixer, use of DJ softwares (Serato-Scratch Live, Traktor, etc) in conjunction with CDJ’s or Turntables is fine but will be monitored at the time of the competition to ensure the competitors are not cheating by using any other software, sync or pre-recorded mixes.

Using any Hardware controllers or DAW softwares such as Ableton, Fruity Loops, Logic is not permitted.

DJs will than upload their mixes online and submit them via the submission form at the bottom of this page to the local competition managers in their chosen state.

The regional competition manager will listen to the mixes and pick the top 6 to play at the regional final in October 2015.

Entry due dates are as follows:

Tasmania – September 25th
Western Australia – September 25th
South Australia – October 16th
Victoria – October 17th
New South Wales – October 19th

NOTE: All submitted mixes must be downloadable otherwise you may be disqualified from the competition.

2nd Round – Regional Finals

DJs who qualify for the regional heats will compete in their state capital on the following dates:

Hobart – October 2nd @ Homestead
Perth – October 9th @ Flyrite
Adelaide – October 23rd @ Studio HQ
Melbourne – October 24th @ Grumpys Green
Sydney – October 23rd @ Mind Nightclub

The setup for the competition will include 2x Technics 1200 turntables + 2x Pioneer CDJ 2000s + 1x Pionner DJM800/900 mixer. If competitors wish to use a 3rd CDJ or Turntable they need to contact the regional managers and find out if any extra CDJs or Turntables are available or arrange to bring one themselves, along with any audio interfaces (Controllers excluded) they may need to use for any DJ softwares.

Each DJ will get 20-30 minutes each to play at the regional final and will be scored by 3 experienced judges – the winner will be chosen based upon their creativity, musicality, technical skill, crowd response and overall performance.

The winner from each of the regional final will go on to represent their state at the national finals!

3rd Round – Online Finals

The regional winners will have their mixes uploaded to the Twisted Audio website for the national online finals. All competitors will be judged by a panel of 3 well known and respected Australian DnB DJs/Producers.

Judging criteria will be based on creativity, musicality, depth, technical skill and overall performance.

The judges decision will determine who is Australia’s Homegrown FreQ for 2015!

The national winner will be crowned as Australia’s Homegrown FreQ for 2014 and will win:

- All winners (regional & national) will get to play at one of the major DnB events coming to their capital city later this year!
- A media pack from Plasma Collective including Vinyl records, Poster and Digital download
- A featured mix on Kiss FM radio
- Plus more prizes for the regional champions provided by the top music and events providers in their state !!

Can I enter my mix to more than 1 state?

No, each DJ is only allowed to enter the regional competition at 1 state only, DJs who will submit mixes to different states will be disqualified.

Can i Enter more than 1 mix to the competition?

Yes you can, we do however encourage DJs to enter only 1 mix which represents their skill to the fullest, this comp is about quality and not quantity ;-)

How will i know if I advanced to the regional heats?

The regional competition manager will contact all DJs who qualified to the regional heats a week before the regional finals.

Can DJ duos enter the competition?

No, at the moment we do not have sufficient DJ duos interested in entering the competition, when we feel that this has changed we will look at a separate Duo category to ensure everyone gets a fair chance to compete

If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to email us at
