THE WILD WEST SHOWDOWN

Straight Up are back for the month of Feb with something rather special, A classic case of East vs West in the form of Drum n Bass and Dubstep featuring Perth’s badman PHETSTA supported by Monkee, Tommy Dub and more.

That’s right, he’s back once again to show Melbourne what a party is all about. Phetsta has been working hard over the past 6 or so years to establish himself as one of the major players of the wordwide dnb/dubstep community and with a massive back catalogue of solo releases tipping the charts on beatport, collaborations & remixes with the likes of Metrik, Camo & Krooked, Shock One & Reija Lee it’s safe to say he’s doing a damn good job at it.

Joining him all the way from the far west will be EKKO & SIDETRACK, these two brothers are making serious waves in dnb with some top-notch production. And of course a man who is no stranger to melbourne, MERCENARY (2010 Homegrown Freqs winner & 2011 runner up).

Not to forget Melbourne’s finest dj’s, producers and MC’s doing what’s good, this one is going to be quite the banger.

Representing the West coast:

PHETSTA (Technique Recordings/Perth)
EKKO & SIDETRACK (Perth)
MERCENARY (Perth)

Representing the East coast:

Tommy Dub
Monkee
Rick Dirk
Datura
Freeform vs Return (Freeturn)

Hosted by MC Altezz and MC JP

$10 before midnight. $17 thereafter. Doors open at 10pm

DELTA HEAVY

Delta Heavy was born the moment Ben Hall and Si James decided to pursue their ambition of mediocre fame, semi fortune and making loud music, in the hope of averting forty long years in an office. Despite a complete lack of production experience, three years of hard work paid off when their track Abort was released on Viper Recordings in mid 2010. Having been a regular on dance floors all year, it topped download charts and received support on Radio 1 from Zane Lowe and others.

Combining their love of cinematic soundscapes, house, techno and the 80s with the impact and punch of an unexpected blow to the face, Ram Records was an obvious outlet for their sound and they were signed over the summer. Starting Andy C’s sets for the majority of the year, debut single Space Time is set to be one of the biggest tracks of 2010.
