Black Sun Empire

Black Sun Empire represent the finest in dark and tech fueled dance-floor drum & bass. Since bursting onto the scene back in 2000, they’ve continued to develop their own unique style and sound, releasing numerous singles as well as five full-length LPs and establishing themselves as leaders in the field. With their impressive DJ skills and inspirational productions, Black Sun Empire have reached far beyond their native Holland. They’ve toured the world over, with highlights including Glastonbury and numerous other festival appearances, and continue to build on their growing reputation as some of the most exciting and consistent performers around. Their fifth LP ‘From The Shadows’ was released in September 2012 and was a 100% Drum and Bass album. This was the follow up to the hugely successful 2010 ‘Lights And Wires’ LP that demonstrated their versatility across tempos whilst still staying true to their own sound. 2013 sees the release of ‘Variations On Black’, an entire album of remixes from some of the most exciting names in tech Drum and Bass.

State of Mind

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, State of Mind are the duo of Stu Maxwell and Patrick Hawkins. Beginning their careers in 2005 SOM have become notoriously prolific producers with releases on a broad spectrum of labels throughout the dnb scene. Material can be found on the shelves via CIA Recordings, Teebee’s Subtitles Records, Friction’s Shogun Audio, Viper Recordings, Doc Scott’s 31 Records, Concord Dawn’s Uprising, Bad Company, BSE & Obsessions, Project 51, Samurai and more.

Not happy being mere producers and djs, SOM Music was launched in 2009 and is now regarded as a premier niche label in its own right. SOM Music is home to artists like Nymfo, Black Sun Empire, Spinline, Jade, Mindscape, Dose, Borderline and Tiki Taane to name a few.

State of Mind released their first full CD ‘Take Control’ on Uprising Records in 2006, an album that garnered them the publicly voted award of ‘Breakthrough Artists of the year’ on the B-Net radio network in NZ, and a nomination for a prestigious NZ Music Award. In March 2009 they released their second LP, ‘Faster than Light’ on their own label SOM Music.

Their third album called ‘Nil By Ear’ was globally released in April 2011, peaking at number 5 in the NZ Charts. This was also nominated for a NZ Music Award.

State Of Mind are the former hosts of the hugely popular ‘Next Level” 95BFM drum n bass show. The show has now been relaunched in monthly podcast format due to popular demand.

Lickweed & Dyzlexic CM support Anodyne Industries (US) & Dabs (ITA)

Posted: Friday, February 21st, 2014

Anodyne Industries has been manufacturing his own brand of heavy bass music since early 2009. Pulling inspiration from break beats, drum and bass, dubstep and a myriad of other styles his sound is a mixture of ferocious bass lines, technical break beats, deep melodies and ethereal atmospheres.

Not constrained by the four walls of his studio, Anodyne Industries has performed live at events across the Bay Area and beyond. Whether he was playing the SF Burnal Equinox, one of the largest sound systems at Burningman or busy organizing his own event, Anodyne Industries’ live sets have taken dance floors on a journey through soundscapes made of inspiring melodies and thoroughly devastating bass mechanics.

Only a short amount of time has passed since production began, but Anodyne Industries is quickly becoming one of the Bay Area’s premier artists in the new school of electronica.

Davide Rustici aka Dabs, is an italian exciting new talent in the new-school dnb camp. His dj attitude got himself to play all over Italy, Europe and Australia with his fresh funk drum and bass rhythms sets.As producer, he got his first releases on Basswerk in 2007. Winner of the prestigious italian contest Elettrowave Challenge 2008 as “best dnb italian dj-producer”, he signed a brilliant single (Crawler – Weirdraws) on the notorious dutch label Citrus, receiving massive dj support all around the world. That was followed by two 12″ in collaboration with the kiwi legend Cern, on the mighty Leeds based Dispatch Recordings amongst other releases on Triple Vision’s dutch group and other european labels. For 2011-12 the pipeline sees the heavily supported remix of ‘Back In the Grind’ with Cern, a solo 4 tracks EP on Dispatch, a single 12″ on the respected Horizons Music (London) and some collabo’s and remixes with the likes of Cause4Concern, Bulletproof, June Miller, Amoss and Future Signal to name but a few.In the years he received big support from big artists like Laurent Garnier, Ed Rush & Optical, Andy C, Cause4Concern, Dj Marky, Chris.SU, State Of Mind to name but a few, and took care of a remix for the mainstream italian band Subsonica for EMI.
